⁵⁵ Now when Saul saw David going out to meet the Philistine, he said to Abner, the commander of the army, “Whose son is this young man, Abner?” And Abner said, “As your soul lives, O king, I do not know.” ⁵⁶ Then the king said, “You inquire whose son this young man is.” ⁵⁷ So when David returned from striking down the Philistine, Abner took him and brought him before Saul. The head of the Philistine was in his hand.
